Poppies Cafe opened in Wicklow in 1984. They realised that the energy crisis meant that becoming more sustainable and reducing their consumption of energy was very important. After doing some research, they applied and were approved for the Business Energy Upgrade Scheme through the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland. The grant they received allowed them to to reduce the cost spent on energy from 2.67% down to 1.39%.
